*edit: before you read any of my advice, also familiarize yourself with:
trading rules: https://forums.d2jsp.org/info.php?p=6
how to request a mediator and prevent scams: https://forums.d2jsp.org/info.php?p=11First make sure you are in the correct subforum.
For example,
D2:R RotW Softcore Ladder TradingUse the search function to find recent trades for Jah to figure out a realistic price.
Then make a thread like this to advertise:
https://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=109224822&f=271If it's a good price, someone may bin (buy it now) quickly. If it's not a good price, people will ignore it or try to haggle with lower offers.
When you want to accept someone's offer, PM them a private game name // password and let them know which region. It's also good to reply to them in your thread to say you are accepting the offer and PMing them. This way there is a record of the trade (see common scams below)
I think it's good manners to say your jsp name and describe the trade when the person arrives in your game, so they are assured it's you, but some people are paranoid about that shit.
Now the tricky part is who goes first. People are probably going to insist that you give first because you have no FG or post history. You're
usually ok trading first if the other person has a long d2jsp history with lots of posts and fg, because they have so much to lose by scamming, but you DO NOT need to go first if you're not comfortable with it. Always trust your instincts. As the thread creator, you can always request a mediator to help you trade safely if something feels off.
Some common scams / pitfalls to avoid:
- Don't accept offers from people who PM you instead of posting in your thread. It's harder for the d2jsp staff to track that, and it usually means someone is trying to lowball you
- Don't post game/password details in the thread. Always PM it, otherwise impersonators will join.
- Don't trade with randoms that approach you on battle.net who claim to be a well-known user on d2jsp. This is another common impersonation scam. Only trade with d2jsp users who you've exchanged game details with privately via PM.
