Like I said whether its cropped or not the point is a small section of a ball / globe viewed looks flat

Sure if you show the full view of the nikon of the basket ball close up you may see it curve at the sides but again like I said the bigger the ball/globe the flatter the section you look at close up will appear

But if we look at the ratio, you are talking about a basket ball about 25cm is diameter compaired to a globe 12,700km in diameter if we asume GE

if earth was flat, would there still be different time zones?

Zoom in so close to the surface, the ball looks flat, same as taking pictures of Earth from 30000 feet. As far as scale goes, a picture from 30000 feet is closer to the surface than that Nikon zoom is to that basketball.

refer to post #14511 where a 6 km zoom of a beach is photographed with the same camera but it hasn't been cropped...

Absolutely no clue about scale or perspective.
