Mallorca's game against Granada (which was scheduled for tomorrow) has been postponed until Tuesday due to the death of Reyes.

Reyes played for Extremadura, which were supposed to play against Cádiz tomorrow. La Liga has accepted Extremadura's demand to postpone their game, since the dressing room was too shattered right now, and this has led to all other games where there was a fight for promotion going on to be postponed too, as La Liga's rules state that all games where there is something at stake must be played at the same time during the last two game weeks.

Mallorca drew 1-1 at home against Granada today.

This means that we've secured a spot in promotion playoffs with one game to go :D

It's a shame we didn't win though, as finishing 3rd or 4th would give us a bit of an advantage during the playoffs, but we conceded a goal in the 87th minute that cost us two points (tbf, the team was relaxed and seemed ok with conceding the draw since 7th placed Cádiz was losing their game, while Granada pushed for that late goal as it secured their promotion to Primera).

Still, it's fantastic to know we will fight for promotion in the playoffs. I don't think we will make it through, but it really doesn't matter... the season has been amazing and has definitely exceeded expectations. We need t give our all though, it might be a while until we get another chance to promote.

But now, we need to focus on our last game before the playoffs. Away against an already safe from relegation Extremadura. One point secures our 5th spot, which is better than finishing 5th, as it could still give us a home advantage in the final if the 6th placed team beats the 3rd one in semis.

Last game before the playoffs tomorrow. Away against Extremadura.

One point would secure our 5th spot, which would be nice. If we loose we would likely finish 6th, as Deportivo will almost certainly win their game. We could technically still finish 4th, but that would require Málaga losing at home against Elche, but that's not going to happen.

Our manager has decided to rest 7 of our regular starters, so we will be playing with pretty much a b-team and little to no pressure. Hope it's enough to earn at least a draw. Extremadura have nothing to fight for, but they are in great form and even beat Cádiz (which desperately needed points in their fight for promotion) away last week, so it won't be a free ride.

Yep.

Since we finished 5th, we will now be playing the 4th placed in semis, and hopefully the winner of the other semi (3rd vs 6th) in the final.

The semis and the finals are both two leg fixtures, with the highest placed team playing the second leg at home. The away goal rule applies, but the highest placed team will proceeds automatically should the second leg finish with an aggregate draw after extra time (instead of penalties).

We will face Albacete in semis (first leg on Thursday, second on Sunday). They are, along with us, the biggest surprise of the league, as pretty much nobody expected either team to finish above the midtable zone. On paper they are the easiest of the lot, and they've also been dropping their form lately... but they are still a very dangerous team, and the only team that has beaten us on both occasions during the league.

Hope we can carry on with our solid home performances and get a good result in the first leg!
