United’s scouting has been quite average at best since like 2006-2007, agree with you there. Other than Rafael (sold), Chicharito (sold), Blind (sold), and maybe Smalling there havent been much in terms of astute, cheap buys that turned out good (and most of then get sold cheap anyways)
To be fair the current direction of recruitment looks slightly concerning for me at least.
It's worrying close to what Dalglish was doing during his second spell at Liverpool - signing British players for the sake of it, of which pretty much all of them turned out to be crap or worse - Carroll, Adam, Downing, Bellamy, Henderson - I suppose only the last one can be considered a reasonable success
