You could call it being cheap, but its a great return for how low i rate lukaku, a player we clearly want/need to offload and replace with a better striker.
it sounds good financially but for the team’s depth now they must pony up - United will need to sign another attacker to replace him now. James is still raw and United cannot just throw someone like Greenwood on and expect him to play like an 18-19 year old Rooney or Cristiano Ronaldo.
I’ve read rumors of getting Ben Yedder at moderately decent price - this the sort of signing to do if Lukaku is offloaded. Then keep some funds and make a run at Sancho next summer.
That’s hardly United’s biggest issue though - a run for two of the types like Tielemans/Bruno Fernandes/Ndombele etc. must be the priority.
