Pearson isn't happy that he's traded, didn't want to talk to dahliwal about it. Which is reasonable. I swear if Hughes signed a short term deal like Petey, he would've left for another team just by the way this org treats their players.
Hockey is a ruthless bsns, but trading him after the botched hand surgery and shit is like yikes.
Now the Canucks can have Pod and Hogs on the team, 23 players 300k cap space.
I think Alvin got everything he wanted, so it's literally on the players to do their part this season.
2 legit bottom 6 centers that can play shutdown/PK, got tocchet the style of coach they wanted, added ton of depth pieces, got a backup goalie, a legit dman not named hughes to play top 4, everyone looks dialed in, coming into camp ready so they don't try to go for a shitty slow start as usual and start playing in nov.
Hughes was vocal about that botched surgery in the past as well. Not going to sit well with the team. I get the feeling he was a respected guy in the room. Hopefully it does not cause a distraction.
Pearson coming of the LTIR forced their hand. Another botched contract results in another draft pick surrendered.
Maybe Myers is kept until the deadline now? Hell he might even stay on the team if we can make the playoffs.
Young guys will get an opportunity to crack the team full time on a bottom 6 spot. Lets see who steps up and wants it bad enough.
Looking for more from Podz and Hoglander this season. I want to see them both play with an edge. Be the kind of players others hate to play against.
Tocchet is probably happy. Alvin is giving him the kind of team he wants.
Casey Desmith had a bit of a tough season but he is an established backup. Gives Silvos time to eat up heavy minutes in the AHL.
Cautiously optimistic for this season.
I can see improvements. I think if Demko can stay healthy this team makes the playoffs, despite what the experts say.
