Podkolzin with another 2 assists.
https://twitter.com/Hockey_Robinson/status/1231617642475053056i love the hustle he has & never give up mentality. Reminds me of Motte's work ethic on ice.
If podkolzin doesn't pan out as top 6, i think he will be fine bottom 6!
shit i read from reddit
Obviously Hughes is putting up a ton of points this year, but as most everyone knows- point totals do not a top tier defenseman make- so let’s dig a little deeper.
On-ice threat level: how many shots are the canucks and their opposition getting when Hughes is on the ice, and where are the shots coming from?

Basically, he’s tilting the ice toward the Canucks to a huge degree.

https://www.hockeyviz.com/fixedImg/replacements/1920/VAN/hughequ99/wraphttps://www.hockeyviz.com/fixedImg/wowy/1920/VAN/hughequ99/wrapEvery single player on the Canucks team is dragged forward and elevated when with Hughes, most of them to a massive degree. Not just offensively, but defensively as well.
The most impressive thing about this is that
Hughes is accomplishing these numbers while the pair of he and Tanev are getting the most difficult matchups of any pair on the Canucks.
-TL; DR: These numbers are legitimate Franchise, 2 way, #1 defenseman type numbers- right now, as a 20 year old D+1 rookie defenseman. If he can keep these numbers up next year while also handling the extra minutes killing penalties, he’ll be in the conversation as the top defenseman in the entire league. My goodness did the Canucks luck out that he fell to them.
