Flyers gotta be the worst drafting team in the past five years. Keep reaching for busts. Used to be so good in the first round, what happened?

2022-gauthier-seems like a good pick
2021-no pick- great prospect for the pool obviously
2020-tyson foerster-looks like a good prospect that might crack the nhl this season/ and only 3 guys with 100+ games ahead of him being lafreniere/stutzle/drysdale which were draft 1-3-6 vs 23 and only 6 with 40+gp which were all drafted ahead of him 2nd-18th range
2019-cam york-14th-already playing in the nhl not sure whats bad about this guy?
2018-farabee-14-already a good player in the nhl /obrien-19th- had some injuries still only 22 not a total bust yet but not looking like hes going to be a star caliber player
2017-patrick-2nd-perma fried brain from injuries/morgan frost-27th- not an amazing player but hes been in the nhl and can still turn into a decent player
2016-german rubtsov-22nd- guy was part of the russian doping scandal in his only good season guy was a bust from day 1 terrible pick by hextall and staff but made up for it with allison+hart in the 2nd round
2015-provorov+konecny both core roster players and good picks
2014-travis sanheim-17th- pretty solid nhl d man another pretty good pick
2013-sam morin-11th-cant even play hockey any more due to knee injuries but played in the nhl and looked pretty good probably woulda been a top 4 guy or really good 3rd pair if he could stay healthy
2012-scott laughton-20th- good servicable middle 6 guy nothing amazing but there isnt exactly any franchise players drafted after him

side note-2012 draft was deep as fuck every single 1st round pick has played in the nhl like 80% of round 2+3 and like 50% of round 4 not many super stars but lots of good bottom 9 type guys with more games then 1st OA yakupov :D

theres the rundown on the last 10 years i dont think the last 5 years are bad at all if anything 2016-2018 are looking like the worst years for first rounders and a lot of that is patricks injury

Sean Couturier's arms are bigger than I have seen in previous years which is a good sign, and Kevin Hayes is slimmer, from the video the @NHLFlyers had
Both Hayes and Coots appear to be in good shape

also apparently some "beyond the boards" series by the flyers comes out tonight could be interesting first episode seems focused on wade allison but they show clips and its got other players in it too

its pretty obvious the culture got bad at the end nobody gave a shit and you could tell AV lost the team and had no idea wtf he was doing it got pretty bad
torts has a lot of work ahead of him but i think a good amount of players will benefit from his style of coaching
and thats not really what that means at all hes been saying that since day 1 of being hired before he even met the team and says that about every team pretty much

video of chris stewart showing flyers prospects how to fight came out and a lot of people were salty about it but it was a pretty short optional session at the end of camp
but this is what lappiere had to say about it

Antoine Roussel PTO for the flyers -dont really expect him to make the roster think hes just a guy to bring that competes hard in camp but maybe he makes the roster for that reason with torts
Bill Meltzer@billmeltzer
Veteran NHL center Artem Anisimov will be part of Flyers training camp on a PTO per the team.

anisimov could be interesting
wonder if we get any more guys

also episode 2 of the "over the boards series with deangelo

Coots with a herniated disc in his back. Possibly done before even getting started.

Daily Faceoff’s Frank Seravalli reports that the Flyers are “hoping” that Couturier’s back will heal in six to eight weeks. He also adds that if Couturier’s back doesn’t heal in that timeframe, surgery would be required, which would leave Couturier out for what Seravalli called a “significant period of time.”

One can hope
