In the offseason you can be 10% over the cap and then LTIR him day 1 of training camp so it's pretty much like his cap hit doesn't exist.

thats not too bad then

do they still have to wait til day 1 of the season to ltir or is he just perma ltir so it always counts?
cause i know like pronger we had enough cap space and had to wait til day 1 of season to LTIR him

i always felt the day 1 ltir was kinda dumb you gain the cap space but already after post season is done not like you can go sign somebody with it

it's not just that, you're thinking as a fan perspective. It's more for owners saving money as well.

for example, if they bought out Dadonov, they would just be bleeding money and it would cost them 2.1mil a year x2 . Instead, they pretty much "bought out" Dadonov for 0 deadcap and only pay 1.8mil in actual $$$$ spread over in 4 seasons.

Ngl getting a 20 goals 40+ points winger for a basically retired player its good.

If they make dadonov play with Wright/suzuki-caufield it got potential to be a good season for him and then flip him at tdl for assets since hes on his last year of contract.

it had nothing to do with owner, there's Vegas fans that hate what the GM is doing because they had no cap space prior to trade

I don't even...

Fact is they need cap space, so instead of buying out dadonov and eating 4.2mil in 2 yrs and having dead cap, they gain cap relief, have 0 dead cap and only pay 1.8mil over 4 years which is like 450k/yr.

Thats why they made the trade, makes sense for both teams and helps them.
Doesn't matter if Vegas fan xyz hates the owner or GM, their job isnt to cater to xyz's feelings lol

Vegas' GM was trading last season like their injured players wouldn't be part of cap in following season

And he's paying for it...

Dealt with it best possible way, so idk what you're trying to argue about? Lol

Cuz the GM didn't care about Vegas fan xyz's feelings? I don't get it. Or are you saying the GM shouldn't have made the trade and just bought him out because fans dont like the GM and further cripple their team they're cheering for. I don't get it man
