I look at it 2 different ways

1. Babcock asked players to show some pics off their phone to get to know them and their family. What they did over the summer etc. Just to get to know the players. Most players didn't think much of it, maybe until it was airplayed onto his screen or everyone to see. Might've got a player or few to go... This is kinda weird, but whatever doesn't seem malicious or anything like that. 1 dude probably texts or jokingly tells biz or his source like, wow u won't believe what we are doing rn!! Then got out of hand.

2. Babcock did exactly what biz described, but Jenner being the captain doesn't want this shit to blow up any further. Would look like a joke if Babcock got fired before the season started, and they scramble to find his replacement. Players know he can coach in the nhl level and they wanna compete/win. Talks it over with Babcock, tells him to stop being weird and just focus on hockey shit and he agrees to release a statement with him to cover it up. Talks it over with his team yeah he fucked up but let's focus on hockey, if he does shit like that again, let him know and get his ass terminated. Hence the delayed response from both Babcock /Jenner to get their story straight, rather than flat out denying it happened on the spot. With a reaction like where the fuck did this rumor even start? Never happened lmao

I think scenario 2 is unlikely tho, cuz Boone has to be beyond stupid to convince his players to lie to player association and back Babcock up after what he did. He might lose some respect from his teammates or whatever etc. So I think it's #1.

The NHL and NHLPA have a previously scheduled meeting on Friday morning, which now is expected to include the next steps in an investigation into what exactly happened when Columbus head coach Mike Babcock asked to view phones and/or photographs of several Blue Jackets players.

As you can expect, everyone’s trying to be tight-lipped as the process continues, but here are some of the things we can determine:

Marty Walsh and NHLPA Assistant Executive Director Ron Hainsey met with Blue Jackets players in Columbus, a meeting described by several sources as “intense.” On Tuesday, when the story broke from Paul Bissonnette on the Spittin' Chiclets podcast, both the NHL and NHLPA initially were satisfied with the explanations from Boone Jenner and Johnny Gaudreau. However, it appears things changed for both later that night when information was received that some of the younger Blue Jackets were uncomfortable with what had occurred. That appears to be the major focus of the investigation.

Columbus promised to co-operate fully in the process. Babcock attended the Traverse City prospects tournament, where the Blue Jackets defeated Toronto 7-3. Jordan Dumais, Adam Fantilli, Denton Mateychuk and Hunter McKown all had multipoint games.

During previous stops in Detroit and Toronto, Babcock made similar requests to see phones and/or photos with executives, coaches and players. Some Maple Leafs players during the coach’s time there were contacted — asked how they felt about the practice.

We will see how this progresses over the next 24 hours.



Lol sounds to me older players with family and shit didn't feel uncomfortable, while the younger players felt uncomfortable most likely cuz they probably have some nudes of chick's they hit or dumb young kid stuffs on the phone they rather not share with the coach. Also fringe nhlers or prospects wouldn't wanna speak up and be in perma dog house or be treated like shit etc. Obviously felt safe to tell the NHLPA how they really felt.

The best part of this story is basically everyone, current players and retired, admitting that ya of course their phones are full of nudes.

Honestly Babcock would've been fine if he had given his players a heads up. Like hey guys, I want to know u guys a bit more, can u guys share like 5 pics with me? Then I'm sure none of this shit would've been a problem. Instead, he most likely dropped the bomb on these guys out of no where. Like yo, give me ur phones I wanna quickly go through the pics and see what type of person u are, oh and Im a boomer that learned how to use airplay so I'm Gonna use that too.

lol not only babcock is an idiot, but i'd say Boone Jenner is a shitty captain or also an idiot for backing him up based on his OWN experience. Rather than asking his teammates if THEY felt uncomfortable etc. He's also the teams NHLPA rep ffs.

Commodore basically leaked that one of the young player is fantelli, lol.
