Just finished Episode 3. While I'll agree that it doesn't quite follow the book, as of this time, pretty open minded about it.

Don't overly mind the casting. Action is not too fast, storytelling is not too tedious. Moving along at a fair pace. Certainly better than the generic [insert trash marvel series here] would be.

That being said, thus far, I wouldn't consider it in the same realm as Game of Thrones, yet. There's plenty of time for it to develop. As far as Blah's sentiments, we don't really know reasons for changes in character arcs yet, so it's a bit pre-judgey. And having read the books, they're very "men are strong and stupid, women are strong and smart" and the show hasn't gone much above that.

As an introductory phase, first three episodes are alright and the show overall could go either way. Just have to see where they take it from here.

I read the book to where they form the black tower, and then kind of drop off from there I might start reading again. I dont even know if the tv series can get there, over all I dont really mind the changes they made. its really unbearable to put everything from book to screen.

Considering they didn't cast Elayne for season 1 that means the first season either ends about half way through book one or they are going to skip A LOT of the book.

So that means they will never finish the books out or they are going to skip a lot of stuff and will probably get it done in 5-6 seasons.

Considering how fast they are pushing through the story with the first 3 episodes it looks like they have chosen the second option.

that will be a huge disappointment if 8 episode season only cover half of eye of the world, maybe they just skip the entire city arc and leave it for season 2 to introduce her all together. but with 8 episode I mean they will have to rush the fuck out to out land, I remember they have to go through some kind of maze/ancient tunnel only open by those druid like creature, before they reach out land and eventually lead to eye of the world for one to blow the horn. I forgot most of book 2 already, I know in book 3 they will travel to the city where rand get his crystal sword. its been soo many years since I read wheel of time, man when I watch it on tv bring back soo many memory.

They casted Min. But neither Elayne or Aviendha. So that's fun. I tend to think unless they're going to remove the foursome narrative, season 1 is going to stall in Caemlyn prior to the royal palace visit/Logain arrival.

It will be interesting to see if they go with the "slower but we will definitely never finish" or "bang it out in a few seasons" approach. The first 3 episodes are going EXTREMELY fast tbh. It would be a lot better if this 8-10 episode season shit would fuck off. Give me 16-20 episode seasons so you can tell a proper story with intelligent pacing please.

As some others have said, I feel like they changed the main characters too much. As I recall from the books, Rand and co. are naive, almost childlike(teenagers really). Yet perrin is a married man in the show, Rand is banging egwene, and Mat is basically taking care of his family(cheating father and drunken mother)...Also Moraine isnt flashy in the books(she knows better not to make herself seem from the get go as someone important who would get too much attention).

They definitely aged the characters up for the show, which isn't unreasonable tbh.

I was rereading book 1 and I think one of the main reasons I hated the first 3 episodes is because book 1 is like a horror book, yet they took all the horror elements and changed them into typical Hollywood over the top action set pieces.

The first like 90% of episode 4 was going so well until they fucking ruined it like they can't help but do.

I guess they will skip the city arc entirely season 1, there like 4 episode left. holy shit a bit too rushed, but still fun to see Nynaeve go super saiyan this early. if there anything I dont like about the tv series adaptation is its the character selection, I'm actually like most of the main selection rand, mat, perrin. but fuck Nynaeve and Egwene r unbearable, feel like they r chosen only because of political correctness. clearly there r much better actress suited for the role. I already dislike Nynaeve in the books now its much much worse. on the other hand the Moiraine actress pretty much how I pictures her when I read the book.
