my laptop even sounds loud enough... surprised. so i am tempted to still try out the o2dac/amp combo but dont want to just waste money. although yea alot of people say you need an amp for these headphones, yet i feel like it may just be placebo? although if so, then why would so many people say they sound much better with amp/dac?

fletcher munson curve

and speakers needing more power in the frequency spectrum

pretty much meaning sometimes some speakers/headphones arent at full potential because its lacking the power usually the lowend and the user needing more too

Yes, it powers them just fine.
I had to use mobo for like a few weeks till amp/dac combo came in.
They most def quiet as fuck on my phone though without a portable amp.

Ok so, I am pretty much set on the O2 SDAC for $150. all in 1 for decent price.

But... I would like to keep my speakers plugged into the same port in my tower. So the best solution I see is a Y cable splitter that does 1 stereo inside the tower, and 2 stereo cables. From the 2, 1 is from my speakers and the other 1 is for the DAC/amp.
I know adding any extra links or cables isnt ideal, but this seems like the best option, other than constantly getting on the ground to unplug and replug speaker vs DAC/amp
Would this be fine to do?

Since my speakers are the krk rokit 5 and actively powered already so I don't want to amp them...

Don't split a signal, run from pc to dac, dac to speakers.
the dac only amps the headphones.

Ok thanks. you mean to buy an extra part which is the switch for $45? Was hoping to get the O2 SDAC amp because of the price at $150, all in 1 and the good reviews.
