no idea what you mean by breaking the casing unless its in some special compartment
unless you mean taking the drive apart? no
dont know how bitlocker works tbh cause it was used on vista

Yeah, the external HDD is 2.5" drive in the casing with USB port. Don't want to break it really as I use it as extHDD commonly.
Bitlocker is integrated to Windows 10 nowadays.

Guess I will take another year to try an figure this out. Or I need to buy back my old laptop, that would be nuts.

You have to remove the drive from your External Enclosure then plug it directly into your laptop or desktop PC. Type in your passcode and unlock the HDD.

Remove the HDD from your laptop and stick it into https://www.amazon.com/ORICO-External-Enclosure-Tool-Free-Support/dp/B07R9HVZMX

Well, that's a funny thing - drive itself is not encrypted. Only a specific folder with work-related files that I copied to my back-up extHDD. Guess I am fucked then :(

I am afraid due to nature of information in most of the files, I won't be able to share them. I am willing to discuss payment for advice that will solve my problem though.
