Enter thier profile and under Send a Message you have Add to Friend list.
click that and wait till he approve you.

Click on his profile, on the left you see "Add to friends list"

Go to their profile, if you need to search for them, add their user to your address book by clicking on Messages
On their profile to the left, under their user name, you'll see "Add to friend list"
