Hi Stevo, I don't think we've ever actually talked before. Nothing but respect for you. I honestly only disagree with your last and third point. You say that the history of GM melee has basically been only zealer and conc - this is true, but I would argue it's been mostly zealer because that's been the dominant and best melee class in the game now since like patch 1.10 on LoD (I might be wrong about the specifics there, but whatever). However, fury druids were and always have been a thing on LoD (Ink was basically the leader of that community since like 2001 or something) - but they have never, ever been truly good enough to compete against zealers. That is why, if you review thousands of pages of pvp material from LoD, you will not see a lot of action from wolf druids. I don't think this really means anything significant but I wanted to bring it up in response to what you said.

The fact of the matter is, D2R is a new game and Blizzard is changing core mechanics of how this game works. When they do that, certain builds get nerfed to the point where they are unplayable (this ALMOST happened with wolf druids when they messed with our IAS in the 2.4 PTR, but thankfully they reversed it). Other builds get buffed to where they are overly dominant (this happened with zealers in LoD, hence their dominance and prominence). Other builds get tweaked and become on par or competitive with other builds. There is a significant portion of people who believe that wolf druids got tweaked in such a way that they are now competitive with zealers for the first time in a longgggg time. Other people believe they are now way too dominant and literally cannot be countered in any scenario no matter what, period. However, this was decided only in a matter of maybe two weeks total, and 8 people were responsible for deciding to ban wolf druids. I am asking a genuine question and mean no disrespect, but do you personally believe that 2 weeks is enough time to do comprehensive enough testing to ban an entire class from the melee ladder? And do you also believe that a vote involving only 8 people should be the way to make democratic major decisions that significantly impact the entire melee community on softcore D2R? If you are even slightly hesitant to answer these questions, it's possible that the decision to ban fury druids was a mistake and should be looked at and discussed once again. If you are firm in your beliefs, that is fine too and we have nothing to say here.

My preference, once again, is for everyone to get along. I really do respect guys like Neil, Jason, and yourself and the significant efforts you have made to revitalize the GM community on a brand new video game. It isn't easy. I would love for one giant ladder where everyone can participate regardless of their build choice. If I have to accept that that cannot ever happen, I guess I will.

I’m not really trying to beat a dead horse, but would like to add my 2 sense. The old melee community a lot of us were apart of wasn’t built over night. D2r has changed some things. Some classes will always be stronger. Learn counters, gear etc. hosting your tournament or ladder, tweak the rules whatever. Civic use to have bm melee tournies with eth gear no zod, unperms etc. I use to host tournies with crazy rules.

Having different ladders is fine. Having private duel rooms is fine. Community seems super active. Get to know each other, show to tournaments, have fun, chase the biggest e-peen, collect gear, hoard dog, relive the glory days like you peaked in high school ( shit I do it) whatever. It’s a game. We are all here to have fun.

Keep in mind gm melee is gm melee. Zeal, fury, conc, jab, kick sin. All melee. Be careful dividing the community, by outcasting a melee character, because it makes the community smaller.
