A black family with a little girl in a car. Is enough reason for a cop to feel scared enough to pull the trigger when he hears the word "gun". The officer fucked up, he took a life with no reason.

As for the guy driving away: As a cop, you're getting paid to put your life in jeopardy for the greater good. Sometimes that means trying to stop someone wanting to drive away.
The word jeopardy being used to validate a murder is just too easy. The best defense of this cop was to not shoot the guy behind the wheel. It was to increase the distance between the car an him.
A cop pulling the trigger should be the last resort. Lethal force only to be used if it indeed saves your life.

For now cops get a free pass in these cases because he is black and thus a criminal, and I felt scared..

That's bullshit.

That kid should have never been a cop, he way too high strung. BUT, technically the court and jury had to do what it did.

Myth Busters:

Cops have horrible pay. And ya can't put a price on life and limb, anyways. How you think the cop's kid would feel if the bullets had gone the other direction?

It was a bad situation. The guy in the car handled the fact that he had a gun, etc., badly. The cop reacted badly.

I guess if you try really hard, you could get an even fouler interpretation of what I said.

Whether or not the cop who ...shot, was scared, has nothing to do with the laws stating when deadly force is justified.

/e

The court and the jury were deciding on whether or not deadly force was justified. Not whether the cop was scarred, or whether he should have been a cop or not.

And I'm saying the court and jury got it wrong from my perspective. In both cases I do not see how shooting was needed as a last resort to save the officer's life.

No shortage of regular ass people thinking they are qualified to be the judge, jury, & executioner when it comes to these kinds of cases. Every single time. Even the media takes sides.

Cop was jumpy. After watching the dashcam and listening to the audio, logic doesn't follow that Castile would notify the cop about his firearm calmly and then try to pull it out and use it in the situation leading to the shooting.

Yanez should not be able to continue this line of work.

Conviction still dependent on a jury, so it's not perfect. (See OJ Simpson)

Was not on the cop's side on this one. Didn't really have an opinion at first since the only video we initially got was the gf after the fact. But once other vids came out it looked pretty black and white against the officer

Looks like he made a really poor judgment in what he might have perceived to be a tense situation. But he went 0-100 so fast that Castile probably couldn't even react to what he was saying as he was reaching in his pocket.

Where is the NRA outrage? A legal gun owner was killed because he had a legal firearm by an agent of the state.
