I am a millionaire though and i started out with nothing, trump started with a 200 million dollar inheritance.
He could have put that money in the bank and been a billionaire by now off of interest.
Quote
5% of 200,000,000 is 10 million, that times 48= 480 million.
When you consider that the base number that interest is applied to goes up every year its easily a billion dollars.
This is inaccurate on a number of things.
Donald Trump's
father's company was worth an estimated $200m in the 70s.
His father didn't die in the early 70s. He died in 1999
His father didn't give him everything. It was split up between numerous siblings and other family members. He had an unknown amount before then.
Merely putting the money in a bank doesn't accrue 5% APY.
There is also no reasonable way to expect him to instantly liquidate all of the assets and all of that net worth at full value and immediately invest them all in permanent 5% APY accounts.
Also, even if he managed to impossibly have the 200M at 5% APY for 48 years it comes out to around 2 Billion, which is lower than Trump's current and former net worth.
