The problem with the reddit model is that it lends itself very well to echo-chambers. If all social media were like reddit, there would be no more common ground at all after a couple of years.
On top of that, reddit has already engaged in deplatforming and censorship efforts against conservatives. The reddit leadership is just as lefty and self-righteous as the twitter crew.
lol at the idea that twitter does anything different to find common ground. it has reduced people's ideas of communication and debate to buzzwords and cancel culture.
reddit has a diverse rainbow of communities. open-leftist, open-conservative, open-neutral (rare), closed-leftist, closed-conservative, closed-neutral, etc. they serve a myriad of purposes, and there's differentiation between upvotes and comment sections. some massively upvoted posts are still contentious in the comments.
facebook, twitter, etc are just exposing us to the stream of consciousness of people we're only tangentially connected to, that and elevates the ideas of people for no other reason than they act, or play sports, or are just a blogger with some niche following. its a terrible idea and does nothing to help gridlock and polarization. its just gas on the fire.
