I believe that a private company should be allowed to regulate business as they see fit. if Trump's tens of millions of followers dont like it, uninstall the platform and send a message. Same goes for the NFL, no one stopped watching no matter what side u were on. maybe 1% of people upset left or right actually stopped watching the NFL. hit them where it hurts, not the report button but the wallet.
It's a communications platform that is no different than a phone or internet connection. At least, that's how it's being legally treated. If it's going to be treated as a "platform" (aka utility) as opposed to a "publisher" then they have no business regulating speech whatsoever. They're in violation of the speech rights of every American. If they are instead a publisher, then they should be regulated as one.
"Self Regulation" by a multi-billion dollar telecommunications corporation is a fucking joke, and under normal circumstances, you'd be the first to call them on it.
The problem where social media platforms come in is that they provide no real content. Everything on the platform exists there because somebody else put it there. Remove all the content from users, developers, etc. and it's just blank. There's nothing there. It's the interaction of the users that makes Twitter what it is. Not Twitter itself. Twitter has chosen to class itself as a platform for the communication and entertainment of those users. If it is a simple communications platform and thus immune from publishing regulation, then to have them act as a publisher in this "self-regulating" fashion is a very, very bad thing.
It gets even worse when you consider more news is shared faster via twitter, facebook, and youtube than any news-specific website that exists. None of the news "originates" there. It's users who're placing it there. When twitter can then selectively remove or shadowban anything they don't like, they're able to effectively control the news flow.
Do we need to continue, or do you start to understand?

There is a difference between making funny jokes and mashing 'idiot' i to the keyboard with caps lock lol.
When you say something funny, I'll keep that in mind.
