Thats the only states that matter to the democrats to beat the Republicans. California, new york, florida, and Texas would choose the president every time if there was no EC.

that's a completely idiotic way to look at it. the whole point is that who wins the states would be irrelevant then. the millions of republicans in california who have zero chance of their vote being worth anything would have their votes finally mean something.
it would also remedy the hyper focus on a few battleground states which receive disproportionate federal means and policies implemented just to benefit a few thousand people, while tens of millions (in both blue and red states) who need those funds much more are disregarded because they don't live in a swing state - something the EC de facto causes, even though it was intended to do the exact opposite.

guess what, all other nations have smaller and larger states, more urban or rural, more industry or more service oriented states - and none just outright dismisses the need and demands of those that have fewer voters - because that stupid 'argument' for the EC is simply not how politics works...

🇩🇪 🇩🇪 why you comment? Between them 4 states there's over 100 million people. So lets throw the whole central part of the USA, out, because their voice means nothing. Electoral collage is based of popolation vote per delegate. So yes everyone has a voice and it not unfair in population per delegate vs state. When it takes 14 states to equal californias delegates.
