I think you missed the part where the republic of ireland is not a part of England or the United Kingdom. A state of emergency in england cannot dissolve the parliament of america, france, spain, china or russia for that matter (as they are also seperate, independant, countries, just like ireland).

Oh I did not miss that part and know full well - what I'm saying is that the Kingdom must re-incorporate mainland Ireland into the Union and pacify the terrorists there.

Alot of Scottish people are :D

It's possible but I think unlikely. If they remove Truss, its a snap general election no matter what. Right now, I don't think the Tories win a majority. Although I'm not convinced by labour either.

I'm not up to date currently, but have the Northern Ireland assembly returned? Ergo have Sinn Fein been allowed to form a government?

No, the Northern Assembly has not and will not return for the forseeable future (noting the DUP will not return to power sharing until such time as the issue over the protocol is resolved). As that is not expected to happen, noting that Liz Truss's government have indicated that they will now unilaterally break the recent international treaty they signed with the EU, the north is pretty much fubar for the time being in terms of government.

Whether the north has a government or not, westminster simply does not care, its not relevant / not a deal breaker in their eyes. Long term I would imagine that the most plausible outcome of all this is that more and more moderates in the north (from both sides) will either vote for sinn fein or parties other then the DUP in the next election in the north.

right, you want to invade ireland. Well in the spirit of your post, my response would be : sure, the best way to solve a government issue is to invade a country, great deflection.

That is absurd. So, Scots never get a prime minister they actually voted for. The Northern Irish don't get the government they voted for.

What a pitiful state of affairs.

hey it is what it is, we dont live in a perfect world, there are worse places to live. it does mirror whats happening on the continent whereby voters are, against their wishes, reluctantly moving away from certain parties/ideas.

Nobody asking for perfect, just functional.

Truss strikes me as some sort of Thatcher redux, and I really doubt that's a package which can win a general election. Also, by 2024, the UK will have been governed by the Tories for 14 straight years. With the Tories having chosen a weak leader who imho brings no upside to the table, it would take a monumental collapse from Labour to blow this.

It's because she's actively cultivating that image. She's made a lot of flip flops over the years so she's hard to pin down what she actually wants, but probably just normal conservatism that she can drape in the cloak of the iron lady while selling out.

Cultivating this kind of image might have been helpful to win the leadership vote among Tory members, but it seems very detrimental for someone who wants to actually win a general election. London and the university towns in southern England have turned sharply against Tories, they need to hold on to at least some of the additional votes from England's rust belt in the north that Boris and the Brexit schism won them in 2019 - and a Thatcher clone is THE most toxic figurehead they could possibly field in these places. We're talking about places which hated Thatcher so much that there were fireworks and celebrations on the streets when the news about her demise got out.

This youtube video is whats wrong with english media - they look at immigration and are fed that this is the problem in england today. immigration is not the problem. not dealing with poverty correctly is the problem. not integrating different cultures into their society, crime, is the problem.

here are 3 alternative videos' :

The Guardian :

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SF-tcBHHKPY

key highlights to this video (1) pausing green initiative (2) english people need to work more (3) correctly identifies the social divide.

Relating to same - england cannot afford to go green, so more power to her re: fracking and nuclear power, it has to be done in the short term for england to recover. Also, telling the english people to work more is all well and good but then you have to have the right schemes in place in order for them to be further education, being skilled in the business to which england has kicked their hail mary (rather then look abroad for skilled labor).

I wanted another video from another source but well - PMQ's. As there is no journalism here im happy to treat this as an independent source.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QmCeSZgRnck

key highlight: it remains to be seen how much of the billions being pumped into the economy will trickle down to those at the bottom end of the social ladder (the perennial issue for england).

Finally - disclaimer now, i am not a fan of Nigel Farage (he championed Brexit for decades and to my mind is misguided when referencing national interest), but well here he is being interviewed by the telegraph, outlining the state of affairs from his viewpoint.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B4AAnzclTsk

key take away - they have alot of obstacles to overcome, critically they need to attract working class Britain - and none of their policies would appear to have this in mind. <- i do agree with this.
