"Conservative MPs urge Liz Truss’s removal from No 10 after poll reveals British public’s fury over tax plans...Conservative party rules state that a new leader is protected from a no-confidence vote for a year. However, leading rebels point out that neither Johnson or May were forced out by a confidence vote..."

nothing unusual here. just the first of many nudges for Truss to go.

The fact that she declare herself as a huge fan of the United States on telly, already ruffled alit of feathers.

Truss just broke the UK economy for generations.
Government borrowing interest rates have increased dramatically and the value of the £ has fallen to record lows.

To those who said Scotland is too small to be independent. Or that Scotland is better together with England.

What would they say now? Irelands economy booming and they don't actually produce anything. No offense Ireland.

Should Scotland remain and have another unelected Tory PM destroy economic prosperity for future generations?

Ireland is booming because they are a tax haven. They basically got rich by leeching on the rest of the world.

Conservative parties around the world being more concerned with internal backstabbing than actually running their respective country - name a more iconic duo!

Also, looks like the whole "Thatcher redux" was not just an act. To seriously believe that a revival of supply side economics and tax cuts for the rich would spur growth or be the right policy at a moment when the bottom ~50% of society are being crushed by a cost of living crisis.... that's a baffling degree of incompetence and being out of touch, even for a Tory.

In hindsight, it's crystal clear that they should have gone with Sunak instead of Truss.

I understand what the Irish have done with corporation tax.
They had a budget surplus for one of the first times in recent history.

Like it or not, its effective.

They point of contention isn't that it's ineffective, it's that not everyone can do it. The world only needs so many tax havens, not every country can rely exclusively on the financial sector to carry their GDP.

would absolutely crushing if the scumbag nanny states in the world would cease to exist ^_^

lets be real, every first world country could cut taxes by half at least and be fine

of course the unnecessary part of the state sector has to disappear and everyone can be happier and wealthier, cant let that happen

low tax countries have a good future ahead of them in a more and more globalised and digital world

Truss blames Putin for interests rates rising even though the spike in UK gilts yields was triggered by the announcement her administration giving tax breaks. Politicians be politicking. It should be acceptable for politicians to be backhanded live on TV when a lie so egregious.

Sure, overall tax rates could be a lot lower - but the tax cuts shouldn't go exclusively to the rich, lol.
I'm still torn on whether Truss and her chancellor genuinely thought this mini budget was a good idea, or if they just thought "fuck it, we're not gonna win the next election anyway, better give ourselves and our donors a juicy tax break on the way out".

its definitely a gift in exchange for future support

in their position you might as well play the long game, their turn will come soon after the lefties inevitably fuck things up again

that being said, everyone needs tax cuts, everyone

Lowered taxes to further force UK back into the EU.

Liz opposed leaving the EU.

To be fair she main a wrong choice by choosing Kwasi Kwarteng as Exchequer. Just like How Biden made the wrong choice in choosing Katherine Tai and choose not to listen to Yellen.
