NK have been sanctioned for not sure how long... they still made some nukes.
I don't see Iran backing down.
Venezuela is still there.

Sanctions are meant to make things extremely difficult for the population and citizens of that particular country hoping that they will revolt and change the government.
Instead and more often than not, it only made people more impoverish and the population going into a nationalism overdrive.

Their manufacturing capacity is down 60% and their oil revenue is down even though they're shipping just as much, and western countries have reoriented away from dependency on Russian fossil fuels.

Seems like they worked.

Yes that's why I say every time that most people here don't understand that authoritarian regimes simply don't care, they eat caviar and complaining / protesting doesn't exactly help

The only way to "win" is to sanction that country to a point where you think it is feasible to a point and send boots on the ground.
You will start with proxy war first so that i.e American troops will not be sacrificed, and when the time is right, you send in your own troops after 90% of the i.e Ukrainian men are being decimated. But even then , they will move EU troops in before they send their own, at least for now.

Good luck with that if you want a Nuclear war.
