County to Pay $100k to Worker Offended by "Blue Lives Matter" Logo

Quote
Oregon is a strange place.

Multnomah County, a so-called progressive community in the state of Oregon, agreed to pay $100,000 to a black employee who claimed the county fostered a racially insensitive.
Racially insensitive?! What did they do?

Well, apparently one of her co-workers pinned up a “Blue Lives Matter” flag and that was so offensive that now the tax payers owe this woman a six-figure sum of money.

Karimah Guion-Pledgure, in a lawsuit filed last January, claimed the flag “demeans” and “denigrates” the Black Lives Matter movement.

Guion-Pledgure claims she was harassed by her co-workers after objecting to the presense of flag. This caused her to suffer debilitating stress and health problems, according to the lawsuit.

The Blue Lives Matter symbol isn't intended to degrade black people or black rights activists. It's a symbol used to defend the rights of police officers (including black police officers).

Even still, Guion-Pledgure’s lawsuit claims the Blue Lives Matter movement “co-opts” the Black Lives Matter movement and "repurposes it to shift focus to law enforcement — a chosen profession, not a racial identity — and thus denigrates, dilutes, and demeans the purpose of the Black Lives Matter movement.”

Last week Multnomah County commissioners approved the $100,000 settlement.

Congratulations, Oregon, you now reward people for being offended by patriotism and public service.

Funny because nobody is oppressing police officers lmao. They're lucky enough I move lanes away from them when they're stealing money from my countrymen on the side of the highway. Fucking thieves.

"After the probation officer's flag had been on the wall for more than six months, Guion-Pledgure erected an "equity wall" that displayed photos of minorities killed by police, the suit stated.

Managers told her to take down the photos, the lawsuit says, but she refused because the Blue Lives Matter flag remained.

That same day, Guion-Pledgure found two sticky notes affixed to her equity wall reading "Thanks a lot" and "Bitch," according to the lawsuit."

Part of the deal was her resignation

Weaponized patriotism is gross.

Both sides involved were probably a pain in the ass but I have little doubt they were harassing her about it for 100k they probably both wanted her gone but also had enough evidence of "patriotic" harrassment which is far from rare in a lot of places

Clearly getting offended over the blue lives matter logo isn't the reason she got paid. It says much in your quote.

Tatsunori Iwamura is a professor at the Matsuyama University, in the prefecture of Ehime, Japan whom demonstrated to his students majoring in pharmaceutical studies to make a chemical substance generally known as ecstasy or MDMA, and the drug 5f-QUPIC. These substances are similar to cannabis that was made illegal in Japan since 2014, because it caused road accidents in the country. The motive of the professor was to enhance their knowledge on the topic of pharmaceuticals.

Interestingly, Iwamura has been compared to the chemistry teacher called Walter White, in the TV series titled Breaking Bad. White begins to produce crystal meth to earn money after he was diagnosed with a type of lung cancer that is not amenable to surgery.

Imamura showed the students to make MDMA, although the concerned regional authorities have not granted him a license to make this chemical substance for academic purposes, as stipulated by the Japanese government. Later it was explained that he had indeed a license issued by the government but it had expired.

According to the university, eleven former students taught by Imamura's came under the suspicion of the authorities for engaging themselves in the production of banned drugs. In fact, four of the students, together with an assistant professor are being investigated by public prosecutors. Matsuyama University is presently looking for ways to check such incidents.

Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) on Tuesday said that the censure he faced earlier this year for controversial statements regarding white nationalism gave him a better understanding of the suffering of Jesus Christ.

During a town hall in Cherokee, Iowa, King appeared to compare his experience of being formally rebuked in the House to the trial and persecution of Jesus.

“And when I had to step down to the floor of the House of Representatives and look up at those 400-and-some accusers — you know, we’ve just passed through Easter and Christ’s Passion — and I have a better insight into what he went through for us, partly because of that experience," King said.

And in a twist of Irony the areligious left will get "upset" that he said this in an attempt to prove some sort of right winged hypocrisy that the right doesn't care about nor move the needle for. to the right this is an eyeroll at worst, to the left it's a "OH MY GOD HOW CAN YOU GUYS BE OK WITH HIM SAYING THAT".
