I kind of agree that there doesn't really need to be a story about it. If it's an actual problem then it should be handled by actors or employees in the relevant companies or organizations.
Still, it shouldn't be a problem to point it out in the first place, but conservatives love to get triggered over nothing.
Also, what is "actual racism"? Or do you mean "intentional racism"?
"racism" has become a homogenized category, due to it's successful weaponization. If you can brand someone a racist the outcome for their lifepath is relatively the same. Whether they screamed "go back to africa Ni*****" or one time made an asian driver joke, similar to #metoo accusations being lumped together with rapists and just asshole bosses. Its all too tightly connected. I agree all instances of racism need to be addressed when they're overt, however this seems to be nothing but happenstance. Diversity in stage acting is decades ahead of diversity in film, let alone TV.
I dislike any cases where I feel people went looking for racism, it's like coming into an experiment with an expected outcome you can't let go of, just bad science. Intentional is a good descriptor of what i mean, but I would refine it a bit more to Intentional-Problematic.
