The government lied about the numbers by calling them "drug overdoses".

There was a 50% surge.

You are smarter than this.

Well, in the US. I guess I should admit that each country had its own brand of response and results. Sweden has less lockdowns but better results. BMI, age, and population density were likely big factors.

OUr drug overdoses are worse - and our school unions are strong so kids suffered more emotionally, leading to suicides and self harm. This generation is the only one that won't have a prom or a graduation. Its crippling.

From the start I thought to pay people to quarantine if they showed symptoms and don masks voluntarily. Most people in cities are Democrats, so this would have worked well. Places like Sweden did similar things.

Closing down bars I wouldn't have liked but could have probably been convinced of, I would have preferred an age test for people below the age of 40. Blanket lockdowns were dumb I think we can both agree.

full lockdowns outside of the initial 2 weeks when we had no fucking clue what this even was i can agree 100% was dumb.

if kids all committed suicide because they missed a prom due to a pandemic i have to say the entire generation is even more fucked than i thought. but in context if we're saying its an increase of 100% i think my 350 or so population high school had 1 suicide in my 4 years there so if it doubled to 2 in pandemic times, and that trend is representative, i wouldnt be shocked, but i also wouldnt be alarmed either.

I agree that a 0.5% death rate should be ignored.

im at the point now where i realize most of what we did was silly, most of what was suggested but not done was also silly, and that all along the way we've been lucky if we could bat .500 for most non obvious factors. i just laugh when some 2 odd years in i meet people who think they bat 1000, and pretend they have all along.

1. u said it would kill millions because they'd all commit suicide

2. you didnt like masks especially mandates

3. you wouldnt have supported closing only bars, restaurants, etc

4. you're lucky covid germs pass a foot over your tiny head and hit the average height person behind you
