Policy makers are tasked with making decisions for the greater good. No one said it was easy. But the risk of a teacher falling ill has to be countenanced with the reality that students will suffer physically, socially, and economically from no school. People will end up dead either way, you can't just shut down schools and pretend you picked the "safe" option.
It seems reasonable to keep the schools closed until people have had a chance at the vaccines given they are actually available and not some ever-future promise. Shutting down the schools has seemed more of a burden on parents than children in aggregate IMO. The main culprits being difficulty with setting up a good distance learning environment and lack of socializing their child. The latter something ALL generations are dealing with. Our Policy makers could have come up with 99 more sophisticated ways to shut things down though, the blanket lockdown orders are moronic. Maybe it helps with getting blowback from constituents since everyone is
treated equally.
