I never said that Senate Republicans ever had any intention of giving the impeachment against Trump a fair chance (unless the Dems come up with a real smoking gun related to much more severe misconduct).

What I said in the post you quoted is that the Dems are making it easy for the Senate Republicans to dismiss the impeachment charges (which is indeed their predetermined stance) and justify this to the public.
The Dems are makign it easy for them to acquit Trump while looking as little like partisan hacks as is possible in the situation.

no, that's complete bs. none of that justifies your 'well, dems made it easy for them' talking point. there was NO way you would not have come to that conclusion, no matter how absurd the official narrative is. literally nothing that democrats could have done that would not have resulted in republicans trying to delegitimise the process and ignore the crimes of the president, and the hacks claiming it's 'justified' and really 'easy to claim'.

also, what else could a president do that'd convince someone who doesn't even care about him pressuring foreign governments to help him with his elections again and again? how is deliberately breaking federal election law repeatedly not 'severe misconduct'?! you know as well as me that there is literally NOTHING that trump could do that'd make him lose his cultists.
