This is just a political move by Pelosi. The House Judiciary Committee has already been doing an inquiry for months. Literally nothing has changed. Pelosi doesn't want to impeach unless it's a clear winning case, and currently it is not.

Lets not forget the senate acts as judge and jury in an impeachment trial. They will acquit Trump and he will remain president. Meanwhile the democrats and the house will be politically damaged in the eyes of moderates / independents - not a good move for 2020.

Don't worry, eventually he'll run out of gas and stall harder than Operation Barbarossa in 1941.

It's a "transcript summary" and the DOJ says "it's not a verbatim" transcript. The footnote on the fucking thing says it is the record of notes and recollections of unnamed "officers and National Security Council policy staff assigned to listen and memorialize the conversation in written form."

I'm sure Israel has a copy of the entire phone call. Too bad an ally of the American people probably doesn't.

No matter the degree of coercion or suggestiveness one sees in the transcript, it to me seems abundantly clear that there is no smoking gun - and only a smoking gun would warrant a step as drastic as impeachment. Sinking their teeth into this issue will be a political loser for Trump.

And just to make this clear: yes, the conversation outlined in the transcript was shady and questionable. But imho, this is how most political bargaining looks like. This is not some ground-breaking, norm-shattering misconduct on Trump's behalf. If we had access to more transcripts of conversations between other world leaders, this would be obvious.

Is this 4D chess by a player we aren't yet aware of? Republicans are now saying Biden isn't exempt from prosecution because he's a candidate and that it's Trump's job to investigate him... but that's exactly the whole situation with the FBI during Obama investigating the Trump campaign based on foreign intelligence... which Republicans say was treason.
