Which explaination? Radiative cooling would be universal, except something that's shaded from moon light is warmer than something that is in direct moon light.
I'd say the ultraviolet star in the center of the moon either sucks like a black hole, sapping warmth, or it projects cold energy.
Magnetism says the former.
The sun on the other hand, it is pushing energy out. Evidence = solar wind.
Uniform craters of direct "meteor" impact would most likely be from the moon imploding.
