Oh bullshit. You can EASILY see the cop at 26 seconds flexing his right arm to hurl the guy down. Tripped. What a giant crock.

...not being a drinker I don't know for sure but I would hope my strength and balance would not allow me to fall on my face from an upper body push and that my reflexes would at least keep me from landing on my face if I did somehow go down .

drunk people say a lot of things, he probably wouldn't remember it later and the charges would be dropped

Charges dont get dropped simply because you were blacked out, if they did id be drinking a 5th and robbing banks

You charge him with making the threat. What you don't do is administer street justice. Police do not exist to administer justice, courts do. Police exist to bring people to court.

As long as you see the path of charging people with resisting arrest and threatening statements (with like disorderly conduct misdemeanors) as a good replacement for force i can agree with you. But that also likely would mean ALOT more tickets. Lots of cops deal out minor street justice with a kimora or a minor slam, if they are all advised to ticket in replacement of any force against non-violent threats there will me massive fines. Places like the boardwalk in NJ would likely see 5-10x more tickets, which is fine as long as you acknowledge and accept that consequence at the outset.

...I clearly believe it to be ethical in this situation . Hopefully the next time he is drunk and out in public putting himself and others at risk he will think twice about mouthing off to the cops . Furthermore , I would support charges against the girl taking the video for interference and inciting .

expecting a drunk to think straight?

He is just a trolling dumb f**k with no life experience, best to not acknowledge him anymore.

...no son , I was very active in the anti-war movement of my generation and have been gassed , maced , beaten with billy clubs and flashlights and had my head split open from a blackjack . I have spent more nights locked up than you have with a woman . And I never once bitched and whined for getting what I deserved . We took pride in our scars and wounds .

...as an edit - I really like that bolded line , might put it in my sig

Anyone notice that the guy is out cold, and his legs are limp when the cop says "stop resisting?"

i was expecting them to put handcuffs on him as that seems to be standard operating procedure - knock out or kill a guy then handcuff him while yelling at a body that isn't moving to not resist arrest

When you make a statement like, I would support charges against the girl taking the video for interference and inciting., you clearly are not taking the side of justice.

Its ok, Deputy David Schmidt was forced to resign from his duties for inappropriate and excessive force, the Va commonwealths Attorney’s Office agreed to charge Schmidt with one count of misdemeanor assault and battery.
