Didn't read past the first few posts, so I'm sorry if I'm being redundant... but as the last male in my family line, I want to have a boy. Should I end up with three girls in a row... I would consider IVF to increase the chances of having a male.

No I didn't. And even if I did, why would it matter? One (or possibly more) sperm reigns victorious over hundreds of thousands of other sperm to fertilize an egg. What is the harm with ensuring whatever fertilizes the egg is the smartest and strongest with diseases/defects already not being a factor. Society would benefit immensely from such a practice.

Ethics gets in the way of progress. If we could test on humans, say heinous criminals in jail for life/sentenced to death, we would probably be a lot closer to curing cancer and heart disease.

Eugenics via genetics is the conclusion of the direction we are going.

Since I'm already born, I'm personally more interested in augmentation. Replace my eyes with mechanical ones that I can shift between infrared, night-vision, and regular? Implants that augment my hearing and memory recall ability? Principles of eugenics, both itself and what is derived from eugenics can lead to endless possibilities.

Some people always want to have a child of a certain sex. If you've had three boys, but always wanted a daughter, this is a way of rectifying your wish. I've always wanted two sons, one named Elias Augustus, the other Lodewijk Achilles. I would consider science to make my desire reality.

Well I don't think we're gonna be making artificial eyes anytime soon, but you might be interested in doing some research on genome editing techniques like CRISPR. I expect these will become mainstream in my lifetime.

Lets hope there no irrevesrible side effects, only detectable 5-10 generations later...
Typically editing parts without even knowing if it has an impact or is related with the "junk dna" part...

And I'd really just adopt if I actually did

Of course to each their own, I just think it's odd that people could care so much.
