germany:

s-tier (world class / wouldn't switch for any other nation's players):

goalkeepers (neuer, ter stegen, trapp)
central / holding mids (kimmich, gündogan, goretzka)

a-tier (certainly up there, even if not strictly the very best):

offensive mids (musiala, havertz, müller, götze)

b-tier (solid, but not special):

wingers (sané, gnabry, hofmann, brandt, adeyemi)
centre backs (rüdiger, ginter, süle, schlotterbeck, bella kotchap)

c-tier (definitely sub-par compared to other contenders):

fullbacks (hofmann, raum, kehrer, günter, klostermann)
strikers (moukoko, füllkrug)

f-tier (absolute trash, stealing a living):

no position as a whole, but some individual players like brandt, adeyemi, klostermann

overall i'd say we have a pretty solid team with some truly outstanding players (musiala, sané in his recent form, gündogan if he gets the trust that guardiola puts in him, neuer), but too many weak positions to be considered one of the tournament favourites. semi-finals would be a very good result imo, quarters seem realistic (depending on the draw ofc), but even a group exit wouldn't exactly shock me (though it'd be disappointing for sure) - not after 2018.

obviously a bit of a "risky" thread to make just one day before the germany match, when those guys have the chance to make me look completely clueless, but let's have some fun with it. especially looking forward to mill's evaluation of... ok, belgium (i was tempted, believe me), and zark's take on the talented spanish squad - but i think we have plenty of brits, yanks, frenchies, and others here to rate their squads.

Usa- c tier for sure. Wish I could say it was better but it's not. We'll never be considered good until we scrap the terrible system and culture of football in the states.

Don't really feel like rating ever player 🤣

i still rate pulisic, even though he doesn't seem to be 1st choice at chelski any more. dest is also a good talent, and mckennie is doing well in italy as far as i can tell. will likely be between you and wales who makes it out of the group behind england...

Fun idea,

Belgium:

S-tier

Courtois, De Bruyne

A-tier

Lukaku (if fit), Trossard, Tielemans, Trossard

B-tier

Casteels, Mignolet
Alderweireld, Faes, Vertonghen, Theate, Carrasco, Castagne, Meunier, Hazard & Hazard, Dendoncker, Onana, Vanaken, Witsel, De Ketelaere, Doku, Mertens, Batshuayi, Openda

C-tier

Debast

F-tier

None really, all of the selected players are justified, if we're going on form, Eden Hazard could be in this category unfortunatly.

Overall not a bad selection, don't think we have that high expectations but let's see what we can do.

My team would be in D or E tier.

Oh, and my team has not participated in world cup…ever. Only in qualifiers yeah :))

i feel like i miscommunicated what i did there, lol. i rated the different POSITIONS as a whole.

if it were every single player, it'd look something like:

s-tier (world class / wouldn't switch for any other nation's players):

musiala, gündogan, neuer, kimmich

a-tier (certainly up there, even if not strictly the very best):

goretzka, sané, rüdiger, ter stegen

b-tier (solid, but not special):

havertz, gnabry, müller, ginter, götze, süle, trapp, hofmann

f-tier (absolute trash, stealing a living):

brandt, adeyemi, klostermann

musiala for sure the best one currently, top tiers dominated by bayern players, it is what it is...
