try it,

I don't think open" relationships work in the long term - always feels like a BS justification for
Being horny/bored of sex with current partner
Not wanting to commit to a relationship or family (I've never seen an open relationship lead into a family )
having already cheated, and trying to reconcile their own guilt by suggesting this, and then the person is off the hook if agreed.

Jealousy is inevitable.

Not sustainable if you plan to start a family together - probably fine if you are all clean and don't have super super high expectations with the outcome.

update: I have admitted to myself and him that I don't love him anymore because he scares me. He's mostly verbally abusive and sometimes physical. he might just move out and still pay my bills. I want that shit in writing. my life is crazy right now and I'm not running around trying to be with everyone, but I did realize how easy it was and that gave me some confidence.
