Next month, as every year will be the "Monerun" (or also called "Monerorun) to celebrate monero's birthday on April 18th

It's been few years that the "conspiracy theories" been proven of exchanges supressing the price by doing market manipulation on their own off-chain websites, reporting fake volumes and don't have the reserve they're supposed to have
Binance and those other centralized exchanges been stealing customers funds from people that dont withdraw to their own wallet

April 18th been a date to raise awarness regarding those practices happening in the cryptoworld from those centralized entities that hijacked what cryptocurrencies were meant to be (Peer to Peer decentralized digital cash)

When people buying AND whtidraw in mass, those exchanges dont have the reserve they're supposed to have (they should have 100% of cutosmers funds but don't) so their replies to this is straight up blocking withrdawals.

CZ (binance CEO) did AMA on reddit, the top upvoted comments been about their monero reserve which even being the top comments on those AMAs been completely ignored years after years

Those centralized exchanges been running fractionnal reserve scams, their "proof of reserve" is PR stunt and completely bogus, only Kraken been having an actual legit and audited proof of reserve which their CEO also spoke against those practices from Binance and such

This year's post on /r/monero

The Monerun inspired similar events in the cryptoworld to raise awarness regarding those practices

The current financial system is using way more energy tho, all those ATMs, those data centers with customers data and everything, it's way more electricity being used than what people can run on their own with low powered single board computers

it's the only one that can be considered a currency since it's fungible
same way as cash is, a $20 bill is worth $20 no matter what
1 xmr is worth 1 xmr no matter what

that's not the case for any of those others, including bitcoin
bitcoin already wasnt fungible due to transaction history being public, tainted coins, are a thing, some bitcoins are worth more and some are worth less because of the transaction history they carry

and now, with the bitcoin ordinals, every "sats" (last decimals of bitcoins, like, bitcoin cents basically) are being inscribed with NFTs pics or whatever:
https://ordinals.com/
making every cents on bitcoin having their own value, that's not a currency, that's an NFT, bitcoin was the original NFT and now even more, which... fuck that

Monero is different due to being the only cryptocurrency being used as a currency and having the fungibility of a currency which none of those other billions are

well, and that it's the only battle tested one with bounties of millions of dollars from the irs
literally the only one out there being audited by governments all around the globe that been tryna attack it for years without success
and the only one that completely overtook bitcoin on markets that people are putting their own lives in the hand of that technology
you aint seeing them using bitcoin or any other for that
proving itself as a far superior technology than any others of the likes which are only speculative investments, this is real tech right there :3

What is it backed by? Gold/land/treasury/insurance? Or is it just numbers on a computer screen?

PoW is backed by energy, Monero being a medium of exchange to convert it into a usable currency for everyday use

PoS isnt backed by anything but speculation
Fiat isnt backed by gold anymore but only the faith people have in the system
