Look at the last image. If you did the "follow the left wall" thing you're going to hate your run on this particular map. But if you know the map generation rule, you can most likely skip the pain.
And following the left wall in any case, even if it heads you in the direction of the red arrow at first, isn't good advice. This is because the wall will, in many cases, drop you off in the wrong direction onto different map tiles. Do a few runs by doing a "follow the left wall" deal and see what I mean!
