How is it possible to do heavy sets of squats or dls and have anything left in the tank

I got 4 sets of sandbag carries and I'm exhausted

How is it possible

Your body will adapt to your harder workouts. Also, you’ll need to rotate the muscle groups you’re working so you can do it daily without too much fatigue from the day before. Muscles need time to rest in order to grow.

When I was in the Marines I would do something like this:

Monday: Back and Bies
Tuesday : Chest and Tries
Wednesday: Legs
Thursday: Back and Bies
Friday: Chest and Tries
Saturday: Legs
Sunday: Off

And Monday-Friday we’d do an hour minimum of cardio each day. It was intense but we were machines

Currently I only focus on one muscle group a day. Lift heavy and eat healthy. I do a bit of cardio too to keep things balanced. As a fire fighter it’s important to be strong overall and conditioned to handle high stress

Why would you do hypertrophy as a marine ? I'd think the ideal would be, be as strong as humanly possible while weighing as little as possible

We come in all shapes and sizes. Most ideal is for special forces B)

What was the mandatory marine stuff ? Sounds like you did bodybuilding sort or split but is there some program everyone has to do? Like 5 mile run and some pushup or what? Is it the same for all marines or everyone does there own thing?

Normal Marines, for the most part, physically train (pt) Monday/Wednesday/Friday. This is done in the morning and consists mostly of running, push-ups, pull-ups, etc. it really depends on your Sgts and Cpls. There would be “hikes” with all our gear and mock skirmishes.

My unit though was led by prior special forces so we got crazy. We would train Monday-Friday in the morning for 2-3 hours. We would do log runs, 100 pull-ups (your team would help you when you couldn’t do more), runs up mountains, planks, wrestling, boxing and stretching. At lunch, a group of us would go swimming for 30 minutes and in the evening we would lift weights. All we knew was pain and pushing the limits.

When first starting at this intensity it was brutal. I personally threw up almost everyday for a week straight. Eventually my body grew stronger though and then it felt as though I could go forever. We were beasts.

But yeah, military was very much guided in the workouts we did in the mornings. Fire Department it’s more of doing your own thing outside of drills.
