I actually agree with this.

She was an invited speaker at a forum for billionaires, gave them some harsh words as planned, and then nothing changed because it's all for show so the billionaires can be like "look, we invited this kid to berate us".

I don't have any issues with her. She's a kid, she's at least got a good message, but she's not exactly a hero, and not exactly effective. Well, she's very effective at making fragile conservatives rage over a kid.

It wasn't the movement that chose her lol. It was specifically billionaires inviting her to speak at their event that got her in the limelight. Gee I wonder why they might choose somebody with no ability to affect change.

I wasn't very aware of where she gave that original speech. I just remember cbc and npr repeating sound bytes every 30 minutes for about 5 days straight

I actually think it's the opposite. Appeals to emotion are much stronger than rational arguments when it comes to the masses. It's also disarming. There's no 'winning' here.

It's like if you try to argue with her people are going to look at you and call you a dickhead that's bullying an autistic child. Smart scientists who can speak on the subject and try to debate or make points based on intellectualism are forgettable and are not great image-bearers. The angle here as i see it is, "look this autistic child cares and understands, but you don't, you're a terrible human"
