Exactly, 49ers are more likely to just cut him and save 24m rather than pay a backup QB who can't stay healthy starter money.

They'll likely keep him for a season--I suppose it depends on which QB they take, but I think they have earned enough well-will to earn a year or two of reprieve.

Jimmy G is not worth trading for and inheriting that contact...

He is a good QB but has not been able to stay healthy.

This x100

I loved the kid when he was with NE and thought he'd be our future, but I don't know if he'll ever make it another full season without an injury and if he does, it will be only on a contract year lol.

You might be right, but if I was GM, knowing that I am drafting a QB at pick #1.3, I would either cut or trade Garoppolo because having that extra 24m roll into next year's cap would do way more to help the team overall.

I guess you keep Garoppolo if you truly think he—and not your rookie QB—can win you the Super Bowl this year.

I loved what I saw out of him before the draft. Watched him lose to my Towson Tigers in the FCS semifinals. Could throw it deep with a very quick release. He made some nice throws for sure.

liked him too lol.

/That Towson squad was led by Browns legend Terrance West btw ;)
