Let me first say this gesture by this man is moving to me... and I completely agree with the messages behind it.

But I'm kind of confused as to why Asian hate is becoming a topic. I'm not trying to delegitimize the notion of it .... I just don't understand why these incidents are increasing. The COVID origin doesn't seem like an adequate justification.

Am I missing something? Or am I just ignorant?

It's because the Asians saw the Blacks getting away with BLM. So they had a chance to study their competition, train hard and bring their A-Game to the 2021 Oppression Olympics.

They're increasing because Asians are becoming a successful but vulnerable force in these cities.

one of my employees came to me recently with some incidents of vitrolic anti asian hatred he's been dealing with outside of work, it's pretty bad out there

asian's are seen as privileged so it's harder to get the media to pay attention, the best they could do is blame stuff like this on white supremacy

Violence is rising across the board. All of it necessarily isn't against asians.

Asians have been and are targets across all racial lines; its just getting more attention this year. This is primarily due to the fact Asians tend to just turn the other cheek to hatred against them and focus on education, work, and family. The outright violence though wasn’t even that prevalent in 2020, not sure if COVID-19 rhetoric can be the main blame here.

The unfortunate unspoken secret is that no one really likes Asians in most non-Asian countries, USA included. A minority group that outperforms even whites in many aspects is going to always going to draw negative views amongst everyone else. Thats why education systems classify them as “white” and Ivy Leagues outright discriminate against applicants of Asian descent

That shooting happened because single mothers can't raise children properly.
