I don't understand it myself. Asian is really broad in the US, and there are lots of cultures within. Some Chinese and Japanese have had their families here longer than whites, often see them running long time family business. Also, some are intellectual Asians, typically stayed here after study abroad. Then more recent Cambodian, Laos, in 70s80s, of which I have many friends. You don't want to mess with the Hmong, Cambodian, Laos that I'm familiar with. They don't forget, they get even.
I don't have much knowledge with Korean Americans though.
