When we had our riots cops were driving around shooting nonlethal ammo at people, like beanbag things that stung really bad. This is what they were doing when they were on strike.

It seems like a matter of time until either side starts shooting with live ammo.

American law enforcement and govt truly sucks at de-escalation.

The thing I see a lot of folks assuming is that the police should de-escalate by removing themselves from the scene. That's backwards. The police should be there during a riot. The rioters should be the ones leaving the scene.

There are examples of cops doing the right thing. Staying calm, de-escalating wherever possible, treating people like human beings. Some even join the protests.

Then there are tons of fuckheads who seem to be aching for the chance to use up their military surplus.

Even IF the cops get frisky....it's still their job. They aren't the ones breaking the laws. There's nothing in the constitution that gives anyone the right to burn and loot.

Personally, I think the FED should send in the Marines and round up all the rioters and let them spend a week or two at Paris Island. Then, see if they learned how to calmly protest without acting like third world citizens.

There are so many people with followings on social media either endorsing or condoning looting. I understand the anger but they should be ashamed of themselves. Peacefully protesting and using your vote is the way forward until the other officers are charged and legislation is introduced to combat police brutality.

The democrats need to propose a bill curbing police officer's rights to get away with murder; there has to be the use of reasonable force in relation to the threat posed. It should be punishable for police to put their knee down on people's necks when they aren't posing an iminent threat, and there needs to be generally less leniency when deaths do happen. Complaints against officers also need to be reviewed more carefully if a pattern of misconduct emerges (this guy had 12+ complaints filed against him). These measures would obviously get rejected by Republicans, but as the public are supportive it would be music to Biden's ears and increase the pressure on Trump come November.
