Going to work until I’m 75. Out of necessity for most of it but also work is good for you. Even if I have a massive cushion going into my 50s I’d want to have some sort of passive work like investment management or whatever

Because of Republicans.

I'm sorry the leopards are eating your face.

Rate of return is going to be lower in the long run as interest rates stay low. 7% return is historical and future projections are looking at between 4-5%. Factor that likelihood into your decision making.

That is ok, I’m looking more at the FI than the RE part of FIRE. Would still consult or work on my own time till ss kicks in.

For my Canadian friends with a spouse. With CRA's prescribed rate of interest being so low at 1% here is what you could consider if you're in vastly different tax brackets.

Loan your spouse 100K, she will invest the amounts and report any capital gains, dividends, interest or other income on her tax return who, if you're using this strategy will be at a lower marginal tax rate. You will then have to record 1% interest as interest income on your tax return and she will record a borrowing expense on hers, as its deductible. The 1% is nothing compared to the difference in marginal tax rates and she gets to deduct it anyway so its nearly trivial.

If you want wealth, play the game. I am in the highest tax bracket in Canada. Every dollar counts in a 50% bracket.

All of this is just my opinion and not actual advice.

tbf ive done well with splits historically. i did a decent buy with apple last split and also netflix. it gets a lot of attention from new investors. tech and musk are going to continue to be solid buys. i will definitely load up on apple again when they split later this month

Kicking myself for not making the tsla play this morning, was an obvious move in hindsight.

I’m also biased having been burned by tsla in the past and let that effect my trading decision, don’t be

techcrunch mad that the messed-up math that made no sense and made the rich richer for decades is now being wielded by retail nerds on the internet and elon musk (arguably the greatest african-american since mlk jr and rosa parks)
