It would be very bad for the stability of the region. Power vacuums create ISIS, Al Qaeda, civil wars, mass migrations, etc. etc. You can say that Iran is a bad country, but there can always be worse, and power vacuums tend to bring out the worst.

Because in the case of the U.S., the revolutionaries were unified. In a country like Iran, you still have bitter divisions over the role of relgiion in public life, about foreign policy, about the '79 revolution, about women's and gay rights, etc.
It's not like Iran's population consists of 90% secular-thinking liberals and 10% religious nutjobs, it's rather 35%+ on both sides, with some undecideds in between.
