i agree, to build the perfect character in diablo 2 required you to balance your items to hit speed/recovery break points and at the same time build offensive and defensively
so an over powered item would sometimes need to be sacrificed for a lesser item that has the stats needed to hit break points
or you would need to use certain runes or jewels to hit breakpoints
of course you could build glass cannon pure power DS/OW/CB but die in one hit build if you wanted or heavily defensive tanks that dont do enough damage
if you have to balance a successful character then its almost impossible to perfect it which means its always possible to improve which means you will want to farm end game and acquire better items
in diablo 2 you could create a "cookie cutter" build (mostly using unique items) which was a simple cheap but effective way to build that was well rounded E.g BVB cookie cutter - arreats/fort/ebotd/ss/dungo/angelics/gores/dracs
building like this would normally be better than using a full Elite Set
but if you really wanted to kick ass with your BvB you would need to acquire super RARE items that would give you an advantage
remember BvB is purely gear dependent & luck IMO so i used it as an example but most builds obviously would require skill to use as well as manually optimized gear

no all you do in d3 is mash cool downs and try to not have a seizure while you simultaneously click the middle of the screen as fast as possible
oh you can also choose if your spell makes one big zap or three little zaps

You guys are missing the point... If we can't crit for atleast 128 billion how will we ever surpass the power of our beloved diablo 3 characters. Where is the feeling of progression? Could you live in a world where your diablo 3 characters can out dps your diablo 4 characters? If so would you want to? I know I wouldn't want to live in a world like that. I say keep going til we get all the way to the end of numbers

The size of the numbers doesn’t make or break the game either way. It’s about the combat system. It’s ok to cry about a game but at least cry about shit that actually matters like PvP.
