There is zero % chance my rent is going to go up from 500 dollars to 1500 dollars.

Housing is going to increase and in arm and a leg housing costs areas might go up more than others but do you really believe this?

By this logic , people supporting a higher minimum wage or federal jobs guarantees , under the same logic housing would go up since the supply of money in consumers hands goes up.

It's not like the UBI is just being created. It's funded through a VAT , something that is very hard for companies to skirt paying vs income and wealth taxes which are easier for companies to lobby or navigate not paying.

It's a matter if the UBI will be set enough that it increases purchasing power and I don't see how it wouldn't.

Agreed this is really the biggest issue. Otherwise I'm not really sure how anyone can oppose UBI

UBI inflation is real. It probably won't take all of the 1k, but I'd be surprised if it didn't take a big bite out of it.

The thing I am excited about is the VAT. VAT is probably top 3 in my list of "we should have this shit" list. Along with "burn citizens united" and "feed/house poor people".

UBI has it's critics beyond economics. people claim that UBI is one short step away from the people in Wall-E that are 500 lbs and all move in electric wheelchairs. I contest that, while it will cause some increase in gluttony, it will also be a new Renaissance of Art. Musical artists, authors, painters, etc. All will use free time to create more art.

Agreed. It can and should increase activity. The idea that only capitalism drives innovation is not one that I agree with.

Not an issue for me, the libertarian in me is perfectly okay with allowing people the right to destroy their lives.

The goal of the government should be to inform/educate and ultimately you let people determine their own affairs and the price of freedom and beauty of it is people enrich or destroy their lives.

the YangGang will not be silenced. if the DNC was shook by Bernie Bros in 2016 I can only imagine what this surge in popularity for Yang has them thinking.

UBI has to be pegged to inflation or it's pointless.

By the time Yang gets into office it will already need to be $1,021.

his rise is great stuff, just hope it stays into next year even though the DNC will 100% squash him if he even remotely becomes a threat to their already laid plans

he’s the best candidate to vote for even if he stands no chance at winning due to the ideas, issues, and potential solutions he puts forward. long-term thinking would be most welcome at any level of government

pretty much all politicians (including Trump) worry entirely about right now issues due to political expediency which is a constant source of frustration and inefficiency at all levels of government
