Pretty much. It's more like a "super" 2700X, than an Intel killer. I assume it will be more happily accepted as a work station processor, than it will by gamers.

/e But maybe that's what AMD was aiming for. Not positive, but I think the business sector demand is still greater than the gaming demand... at least in the CPU world.

For use cases like compute and more parallel workloads in the datacenter, this is much more positive than many expected. Their power consumption is much lower, with higher performance, than intel.

Yeah, but for all the hype it doesn't beat the 2700X very much in workstation crap. It's pretty much just a 2000 series, bump... at least speed wise.

I mean were you really expecting like a 30% jump in performance? It's practically on par with Intel single thread in Cinebench, and with driver and game optimizations, we could see that on gaming performance as well. Literally watch the first minute of Linus' review where it's tied with the 9700k in CS:GO.

No I wasn't. I was expecting the same crap the AMD dishes out every year, and it seems that's what we got.
But then again, it wasn't me that made this topic... https://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=81108602&f=188

It seems to excel at rendering type tasks, but still gets nailed by Intel in gaming.

As expected, always the same story. The hype died as soon as it launches and still can't beat intels outdated cpus in gaming sigh.
