Abdihakim Amin Essa, 22 is a Somali national and US permanent resident non-citizen who was charged with helping mail in at least 13 fraudulent ballots, all cast by other Somali non-citizens in Ilhan Omar's district during the 2018 election. He was working for an "unidentified campaign" of a "local politician". Election workers only noticed what was apparently an organized scheme involving numerous people when Essa first got ballots as a "helper" for "prospective voters" who all lacked identification, then returned the next day as the prospective voter while some other Somali guy was playing the "helper" role, and they recognized him as the same person. There were 13 ballots cast with him as a witness or him forging his father's name as a witness, and that's just the two names we know about and not anyone else involved in the conspiracy.

So gee, who could believe it, the Somali people who were notoriously cheating the US immigration system by coordinating fake family reunifications, were also running coordinated scams to stuff ballot boxes with fake votes. Hah, next thing you tell me, they'll be defrauding our social services for benefits they aren't owed. I could never be so silly as to suggest that

I mean, if 87% of somalis given DNA tests were fabricating family ties and its so commonplace that they elected someone to office who got into the country illegally that way, you have to figure that there is already networks and experience in place in the insular community to set up these kinds of operations. And all it takes to cast votes in MN is to register on the spot and have a 'witness'. If they were verifying documentation properly that would be a hurdle, but clearly their operation was simply claiming to have forgotten proper documents. If any Somali collaborators are sitting behind the desk, that's certainly no safeguard. If those 13 ballots were indeed cast by non-citizens, that would be proof of how easy it was, and means it could be incredibly widespread.
