If you replace blizz with orb your build instantly becomes 10x better and you won't have any trouble with skill points

Yes this is the build I use. I have been able to clear everything except hell ancients so far on ladder.

20 firebolt
20 fireball
1 fire mastery
20 ice blast
20 blizz
1 cold mastery

Then remaining into ice bolt as your primary attack should be blizz / ice bolt, so you don't need to waste 3 pts to get to meteor.

Orb and firewall are the most dmg efficient skills w/o synergy. So you really don't lose a lot of orb dmg from the hybrid build because you'll get the benefits of cold mastery with +all skills, and you will have some leftover pts to put in ice bolt.

With both blizz and fireball they will be significantly weaker without the full synergy investment.

Orb works wonders alone with only 1 pt in mastery so you can use sockets and inventory for fireball. You can cast 2 effective fireballs between every orb so the dps really is noticeable. Weak Blizz and weak Fire ball is all about struggling about each immune you face
