I'm trying to figure out a solution to having a cheap mobo and running an FX-8350 inside of it - I read it's my VRM's that's overheating (I have an r9 380 4GB) so I bought copper heat sinks and attached them to the mosfets - still gave me FPS drops
I'm using HWmonitor to check my temps - I think my VRM's start to cause throttling at 54 celcius
I have a fan pointing on my motherboard and it's still not really doing the trick
To find a motherboard with good VRMs it costs like $100+ so I'm really not trying to buy a new one
Anyone know a solution?

Dig deeper to what’s really causing the issue? Unstable overclock or something?

no OC done

Asus M5A78L-M LX PLUS is the mobo

I hear it has bad VRM problems =/ even after applying heatsinks to the individual mosfets i still get throttling (i htink its throttling)

Are you able to disable cores in the bios? It’s been a while since I’ve played with that platform.

Did you ever take the CPU voltage off AUTO and manually set it yourself? I ask because on my FX 8350 I had to do that, and I'm running a 220W max. motherboard.

You have a 125W max. motherboard. I would definitely manually set your CPU voltage in the BIOS. The FX 8350 ia a 125W CPU.

/e The lowest I could get my CPU voltage was 1.275v
